<p>Nach der <a href="Promotion_(Doktor)" title="Promotion (Doktor)">Promotion</a> in <a href="Regensburg" title="Regensburg">Regensburg</a> 1996 und <a href="Habilitation" title="Habilitation">Habilitation</a> in <a href="M%C3%BCnster" title="Münster">Münster</a> 2001 lehrt er seit 2003 an der <a href="Universit%C3%A4t_Cardiff" class="mw-redirect" title="Universität Cardiff">Universität Cardiff</a> (seit 2010 <a href="Professor" title="Professor">Professor</a> für Historische Theologie und Geistesgeschichte (Patristik und Spätantike)).
